OUR location

Positioned on a hillside, the villa has stunning panoramic views from every window. There are plenty of beautiful walks and trails for you to explore on foot or by cycle. A car is recommended during your stay.

This would give you the flexibility to explore the local area and all its attractions. However, once in Lucca, trains and buses are available to most destinations.

There are an assortment of local amenities with a large supermarket within 5 minutes drive our villa in Lucca. A 10-15 minute drive takes you into the city of Lucca.

Tuscany is a region of outstanding natural beauty, packed with architectural and artistic treasures for you to explore. There are numerous trattorias and restaurants within the local area all offering authentic traditional Italian cuisine. The local vineyards adjacent to the house offer wine tasting and tours.There are an assortment of local amenities with a large supermarket within 5 minutes drive of the house. A 10-15 minute drive takes you into the city of Lucca.

LUCCA

is a fascinating and beautiful city, which endears itself to everyone who visits. Hidden behind imposing Renaissance walls, its cobbled streets, handsome piazzas and shady promenades make it a perfect destination to explore. The surrounding walls date back to the 17th century, while Lucca itself is an ancient city with history far back as the Roman period. The walls now act as a perfect way to see the layout of the city on foot or by cycling its 4km perimeter. Much of the wall is shaded with various tree species and many can be seen having a picnic or just relaxing in the hot summer sun.

The ‘Via Fullungo’ is one of the main streets in Lucca and it is lined with chic boutiques, intermingled with restaurants and clusters of people all enjoying alfresco dining. During the summer festival, Lucca plays host to some of the biggest names in music the industry with open air concerts within the city walls. The Piazza Napoleone will host big performances and artists, offering music of all genres and tastes. Some of this years artists include Edd Sheeran, Rod Stewart, Duran Duran, Sam Smith, Lenny Kravitz amongst others. A full listing can be seen at the following website.

Lucca is the birthplace of the famous Italian composer Puccini. Opera concerts are held throughout the year, especially in the autumn. Lucca also hosts the annual Lucca Comics & Games festival. It is the largest convention of its type in Europe and is usually held towards the end of October. More information can be found at the link below.

PISA

draws fame from an archtectural project gone wrong. The world famous ‘leaning tower of Pisa’ is one of many sites to visit in this area. Pisa is also rife with well-maintained Romanesque buildings, Gothic churches and Renaissance piazzas. The city has a young vibe with the University of Pisa making up a large portion of its population with 60,000 students. Pisa is a coastal city so has its own port and sandy beaches. From the villa Pisa centre is approximately 30-40 minutes by car. You can also get the train from Lucca which takes around 15 minutes.

FLORENCE

Florence is the capital of Tuscany and a ‘must visit’ during your stay. Florence hosts some of the greatest artistic and architectural treasures in the world. The city is filled with historical relics and artistic masterpieces by the greatest masters of the Renais period, Giotto and Brunelleschi, Michelangelo and Vasari, Michelozzo and Leon Battista Alberti, to name a few. Florence is approximately 45-60 minutes drive from the house, but during busy periods would recommend travelling via train from Lucca.

VIAREGGIO

Viareggio is the largest beach town in Tuscany. Also well known for holding one of the largest carnivals in Italy drawing thousands of people each year. The coast is lined with fine sandy beaches.

The majority of beach sections are privately owned facilities where you can rent a sunbed and umbrella, but there also free beaches. viareggio The long seafront promenade is lined with designer shops, boutiques, bars and restaurants and is the place to be in the evening.

Towards the south of Viareggio is a large pine forest where you can hire cycles and ride through the shaded trees or along the see front. Access to Viareggio is straightforward via the motorway or trains and buses from Pisa and Lucca.

ABETONE

Just north of Lucca and approximately one hours drive, takes you to Abetone. This is an area of natural beauty which can be enjoyed in both the summer and winter. More well known in the winter months for skiing with runs reaching an altitude of over 1900 metres.

The ski slopes spread out between four linked valleys: Val di Luce, Valle dello Scoltenna, Valle del Sestalone and Valle di Lima. These valleys form one of the most beautiful, famous and natural settings of the Aabetonepennines.

The ski area has been renovated recently and it currentlabetone2y includes 26 ski-lifts serving 42 slopes boasting various levels of difficulty. The facility’s numerous snow-machines have the capacity to cover 40% of its ski slopes even in climactic conditions lacking natural snow. The area also includes three cross-country slopes with rings that stretch for 19 km.
